A contract of Tuti-Maidan Gas Exploration and exploitation is singed between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan

Mr. Mulla Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Economic Deputy Prime Minister, on the 10/10/2024, signed a 10-year agreement for the exploration and exploitation of Tuti-Maidan gas with an investment of about one billion dollars between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan and an Uzbek company.

According to the agreement, the contracting company invests 100 million dollars in the first year and 1 billion dollars in the course of ten years, and produces 100 megawatts of gas electricity in the first two years from the extracted gas.

The Tuti-Maidan gas reserves of Faryab Province have an area of ​​about 7,000 square kilometers, which will meet the country's gas needs to a large extent and provide employment opportunities to thousands of citizens directly and indirectly.
