  2024 - May - 15

The petroleum minister addressed a ceremony and inaugurated new wells in the Kashkari oilfield in Sar-e-Pul province. The Kashkari, Angot, Aq Darya oil fields are now extracting more than 1000 metric tons of crude oil from 20 wells. The government signed a multi-billions dollar deal last year with a Chinese company for extracting oil from the Amu River basin and develop oil reserves in the northern provinces. Afghanistan is estimated to be sitting on untapped resources of more than $3 trillion, which has attracted the interest of foreign investors.
